Taylor Swift graces the cover of the November issue of Glamour. In the article, she talks about her relationship with the Kennedy family, her closest friends, being misunderstood and surrounding herself with people who are there for the right reasons. When the interviewer pointed out that Taylor’s ex, John Mayer, told Rolling Stone magazine her song “Dear John” was about him, Taylor replied, “How presumptuous! I never disclose who my songs are about.”

In fact, Taylor really doesn’t want to know what John said in Rolling Stone. So much so that she didn’t even let the Glamour interviewer finish her sentence.

“I know it wasn’t good, so I don’t want to know,” she insisted. “I put a high priority on staying happy, and I know what I can’t handle. It’s not that I’m this egomaniac and I don’t want to hear anything negative, because I do keep myself in check. But I’ve never developed that thick a skin. So I just kind of live a life, and I let all the gossip live somewhere else. If you go too far down the rabbit hole of what people think about you, it can change everything about who you are.”

As for her budding relationship with Conor Kennedy, she doesn’t reveal too much, at least in interviews.  “I don’t talk about my personal life in great detail,” she said. “I write about it in my songs, and I feel like you can share enough about your life in your music to let people know what you’re going through.”

With her superstar status, Taylor has plenty of people who want to be her friend. She’s careful about who she lets into her inner circle but is also realistic enough to know even those she trusts most might hurt her at some point.

“I think you can tell who’s a good person to be around, who makes you laugh, who’s fun, whom you can trust,” she said. “And, yes, you’re going to get burned a few times, but I’d really rather get burned a few times than sit alone in that house with the curtains drawn. So God forbid this person you’re hanging out with gets a bit of validation out of the fact you’re famous. Is that the worst-case scenario? You know, it doesn’t seem that bad.”

Taylor Swift is also featured on the cover of the UK edition of Marie Claire this month. She’s gearing up to release her new album, Red, on October 22. She gave Good Morning America a sneak peek of the title track Monday morning. If you missed it, listen here.
