I went to Waltham City Hall this morning. Once I got to the building, I wanted to look around it. It’s an older building, considering that the United States isn’t a very old country.
I walked by the meeting room for the city council. There were some pictures on the walls of previous city councils. Every picture showed the same thing; almost all of the people on the councils were men. The most recent picture was of the 2007 council; that had three women in the picture. All of the other pictures had two women, at the most.
It’s true that the mayor of Waltham is a woman right now, and that either she’s not fighting the conglomerate, or she’s not fighting them much, or she’s fighting and not winning.
